Everyday is a great day to be on this side of the sod, but I have to ask you, are you feeling run down from this balancing act? “Getting worn out and run down robs you of receiving what you need from the universe” I would always push past those feelings and in honesty, I never took time to learn to honour the early signals. That lead to breakdown, physically, mentally and spiritually. Now I pay attention, I’m still working on the constant discipline to slow down and honour the signals. The cycles of the weather, the changing of the seasons, a global pandemic, world injustices, the energy of those around us locally, can all impact our energy. The weight of the world is on many of our shoulders (on many levels) and our connection to the current cycle of the moon is an amplifier. Back in early June, a full moon and lunar eclipse, followed by a Solar Eclipse two weeks later, follower by ANOTHER full moon and Lunar Eclipse two weeks after that did throw a monkey wrench into things for many of us. So, when you feel off, when that weight is really bearing down and holding you back from your potential, note to self, it isn't always JUST us that us off. Observe and investigate a little but in a loving, curious and non judgmental way. When you do feel off, pause, observe, take a deep breath. Then try doing the above and then, what I have typed below. Boy have I ever learned and the hard way to stop and listen and to give myself credit. I communicated my realizations with myself first and then my family, that this week, I’m slowing down and needing support so that I can get back to my best self. Utilizing my tools, with some loving self discipline to actually use them. (Another key element) ☄️It takes courage, it takes self love, it takes tough self love, maybe some tears, communication and a commitment to holding safe and healthy boundaries for ourselves I want to be at my be at my best for the long haul, how about you?? I am loving being back to work to help others with this, as well to be sure to take my own prescription for this ailment. ️Rest, water, rest, less work, saying no, resisting old unhelpful patterns, using my self care tools and ...nature. Great news is, supporting yourself includes utilizing the help of professionals :) If you haven’t booked your appointment of healing and empowerment, what’s holding you back???

Heat vs Cold Using heat (thermotherapy) and cold (cryotherapy) are easy and effective means of treating pain at home. But how do you choose which one is best? What happens to the body? Both heat and cold work to change the blood flow to the affected area. When heat is applied to an area, the blood vessels will become bigger (vasodilation), allowing for an increase blood flow. When cold is applied, the opposite will occur – the blood vessels will become small (vasoconstriction), and the blood flow will be decreased. When trying to decide on using heat or ice, one must first determine whether they want more or less blood flow to the area in question. When to use cold: When you have an acute injury or wound, inflammation develops because that is the body’s way of beginning the healing process. Inflammation is characterized by redness, pain, swelling and heat. While we don’t want to eliminate inflammation altogether, decreasing the blood flow to the area will help to decrease some inflammation while also helping to decrease the pain, as it numbs the surrounding nerves. When to use heat: When you have tight muscles, stiff joints and old injuries that don’t seem to want to go away, using heat is handy in this situation. Blood contains oxygen and nutrients that is optimal for healing, so when heat is applied to the affected area, that increases the flow of oxygen and nutrients as well. Tight muscles are able to relax a little bit more, stiff joints begin to loosen, and scar tissue can start to break up. For how long? When you have a new injury, you want to make sure you use cold within the first 48-72 hours. Apply cold for 15-20 minutes at a time, with 2-3 hours in between. Any less than 10 minutes and it is unable to penetrate to the muscular levels, and any longer than 30 minutes, you are at risk for frostbite. Always remember to have a layer between the cold and skin. For using heat, it can be applied for 15 minutes or up to 45 minutes (at a lower heat level), with 2-3 hours in between. Always ensure that there is a layer in between your skin and the heating device. What happens if I mix it up? If you apply heat to a new injury, or cold to an old one, it isn’t the end of the world. The cold will simply make muscles and joints more stiff, while heat will delay the healing process of an acute injury. Old injury - Heat Tight muscles - Heat Stiff joints - Heat Acute or New injury - Cold Inflammation - Cold Fibromyalgia pain - Heat Arthritic pain - Heat Tension headaches - Heat to neck, Cold to forehead Migraines - Cold Gout - Cold Muscle strain - Cold then Heat once inflammation has decreased Muscle sprain - Cold, then Heat once inflammation has decreased Tendinitis - Cold Tendinosis - Heat Chronic pain - Heat, or Heat and Cold Blog Post Author Bio

Jaime ensures that all of your body systems are working to their optimal function before you leave your session. Usui Reiki (Ray-Key) was discovered by Mikao Usui in Japan in 1922. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words meaning Universal (rei) and life energy (ki); Universal Life Energy. Ki is the electrical energy that creates the body and determines the state of health of our body. The state of our Ki is affected by our limiting beliefs, negative thoughts and feelings, past traumas and experiences. A person who is attuned as a reiki healer has had their body’s energy opened and cleared by a process called a Reiki Attunement. They are trained to channel universal life energy through their bodies. They now, not only receive an increase in this universal life energy (ki) for their own healing, they also become connected to the source of all universal Ki. We do not understand exactly how it works but here are some things we do know: 1. It is considered a spiritual practice much like yoga, meditation, qigong or journaling, to name a few. 2. It is not a religion. Practitioners are from all races and spiritual backgrounds worldwide. 3. Practitioners are taught how to channel reiki and allow it to flow through them, by remaining humble to the increased flow of reiki energy 4. Reiki practitioners do not force or push the Reiki energy to “fix” an issue but allows Reiki to shift a client’s Ki, as needed. 5. There is no physical manipulation of the body’s muscles 6. Reiki is considered a Holistic practice. Once Ki is shifted in a client, the physical, emotional and spiritual body responds to this increased Ki in a positive way. 7. By shifting Ki to a healthy state of vibration, the body, mind and spirit can more easily shift and begin the process of healing itself. During a reiki session, a practitioner’s hands may lay lightly on or slightly above a client’s body. In session, a fully clothed client can feel many sensations. Some include: 1. An increase in warmth surrounding them 2. Tingling in arms and lower legs 3. Buzzing in the ears 4. Visual colors in their mind’s eye 5. A few clients may feel chilled 6. A sensation of swaying 7. Some clients have no sensations at all. Whatever the experience and/or sensation, it does not imply a level of effectiveness. Everyone’s session is unique and perfect for them. A typical session can run from 30 to 60 minutes in a relaxing softly lite room to make clients comfortable and relaxed. There are many noted health benefits for people including but not limited to: • Minimizes stress, anxiety and depression and has shown to be most effective with reducing PTSD symptoms • Boosts creativity and intuition • More balanced emotionally and more mental clarity in difficult situations • Creates deep relaxation and aid in healthier sleep patterns • An increased ability for the body to heal itself • Reduces pain in injuries and post-surgical sites, decreases recovery times Author Bio Nadine Emberley is the founder of Reiki on the Rock and has been a Reiki Master/Teacher since 2007.
